Mark started his aquatic journey as a swimmer representing international teams from 1988 all the way through to 2000 having been named England captain twice. He started his coaching career in 1993 as an age group coach at Rotherham Metro. With early success he was quickly appointed as head coach to both Trident swimming club and then on to Deventio Excel.
By the end of 2009 He had coached 17 international swimmers, one Paralympic multiple finalist, 13 British age and junior records and a senior British National record holder to name just a few. In 2009 Mark was appointed head coach of the City of Manchester Aquatics and Regional Beacon programme as well as head of Aquatics for Manchester City Council. Since then, he has coached 45 internationals and countless National records and medals at the Commonwealth Games, European and World Championships.
From 2007 – 2012, he was Head Coach to British Swimming teams and the European Championships, as well as World and European Junior Championships.
